Positive Signs for 2027 Senior Women's Competition

The Riddell District Football Netball League (RDFNL) is pleased to see continued positive growth and momentum surrounding its women’s competition in recent weeks.

The League has welcomed Wallan Football Netball Club’s search for coaches ahead of its inaugural RDFNL season, while Diggers Rest, Melton Centrals and Melton South have all taken positive steps towards establishing women’s teams in the competition in 2027.

The RDFNL is committed to supporting all clubs in their efforts to establish and develop women’s football and is encouraged by the progress being made across the competition.

These developments are particularly positive for the League’s existing women’s football clubs — Lancefield, Macedon, Mount Alexander and Riddell — and provide encouraging signs for the continued growth and development of the competition.

RDFNL General Manager of Operations Grace Bibby said the League was pleased to see clubs continuing to invest in opportunities for women and girls to participate in football.

“We are really encouraged by the interest we are seeing from clubs across the League,” Bibby said.

“The growth of women’s football is important to the future of the RDFNL, and we want to work closely with our clubs to support them in establishing sustainable and successful women’s programs.

“With several clubs taking positive steps towards entering teams in 2027, we are hopeful this will provide further opportunities for women and girls across our region to play football and contribute to the continued growth of the competition.”

If you have missed the recent promotion from clubs, or are still looking for a place to play in 2027, please see the club advertisements that have been circulating below for further information and contact details.

The RDFNL will continue to work with clubs throughout the off-season to support their preparations for the 2027 season.
