Rise up by Charlotte Stone will be the RDFNL theme song.
The RDFNL will play Charlotte Stones's song Rise Up as our women and youth girls run onto the field for their grand finals this weekend.
Charlotte who was just 12 years old when she began writing music combined her two loves of music and football and with the help of her mother Leanne and producer Andrew last week she published her first song on all the streaming platforms.
Her inspiration came from watching her older sister Jasmine play football and the courage she shows.
"They are just so fearless and I really love watching her play," Charlotte said.
Charlotte is unsure where her music journey will end up but was shocked to hear we were playing her song at our junior and senior women grand finals.
"It is insane really, it will be a lot of people listening."
Charlottes mother Leanne helped with the lyrics as she drove around the family farm and said she was proud of the courage each of her children show.
"On the football field and putting music out there, two very brave things to be a part of and I am so proud of them both," Leanne said.
The backing vocals are performed by a group of girls who currently play football in the north east suburbs.
Charlotte and Leanne hope this upbeat song can empower more women and girls to play football in their local area.
Rise Up will be played as our women run out later today (Saturday 17th) and as our youth girls run out tomorrow (Sunday 18th)
