Flynn Lakey wins 2021 Morrish Medal

The 19 year old on Thursday night was the joint winner of the 2021 Morrish Medal for the best and fairest player in the NAB League.

Flynn had a great season for the Calder Cannons taking out the prestigious Morrish Medal.

He joins a list of big names in the game as winners of this award and will always be linked to greats of the game like Lenny Hayes, Nathan Brown and more recently Hugh McCluggage and Clayton Oliver.

Lakey is only the 3rd player from the Cannons to take out this award in the 30 year history.

Flynn had a decorated Junior career in the RDFNL playing over 100 games for the Gisborne Rookies after starting out at the Club as a 7 year old.

Flynn represented the RDFNL at Under 13, 14 and 15 Interleague carnivals and was a very good player in the AFL Vic Metro Junior Champs.

Congratulations to Flynn on this wonderful achievement.

Former Romsey junior and now AFLW listed Geelong player Georgie Prespakis and former Melton South junior Paul Curtis were also in the awards on the night.
