Broadford move to AFL Outer East for Season 2020

The Ontime Delivery Solutions RDFNL is disappointed to announce the Broadford FNC will be moving to AFL Outer East ahead of the 2020 season.

Broadford FNC have made valuable contributions to the League in both football and netball.

The RDFNL is disappointed in the outcome, however they will now turn their attention to planning for the upcoming season.

Operations Manager Jordan Doyle spoke on behalf of the league on Broadford FNC’s decision to move away from the RDFNL.

“The RDFNL Board are disappointed that Broadford FNC has decided to move to AFL Outer East,” Doyle said.

“The League and AFL Goldfields staff have worked tremendously hard in helping the Broadford Football Netball Club remain sustainable and competitive in the RDFNL.

“Unfortunately, the members of the Club have decided to move to a League that they believe will be a better geographical fit and one where they believe they will be able to be more competitive on the field.”

Broadford has not played senior football finals since 2016 where they finished the season third and lost the preliminary final by four points.

With Broadford exiting the competition the RDFNL will become a 10-team competition for the 2020 season.

“The RDFNL Board is hellbent on securing extra Clubs into the RDFNL for the 2021 season and will be working hard during 2020 to ensure that this occurs.” Doyle said.

“The 2020 RDFNL season will be a 10-team competition following a great deal of work from the members of the Rockbank FNC during the off season.

“Now that the Competition structure has been finalised, the League will be sending out the off-season survey to Clubs and will begin the 2020 season Fixture in the next month with the fixture to be released by mid-December.’’
